Macaroni Dad's Annual Gift Guide, Part 1

What to get the man in your life

By Eric Cohen - Macaroni Dad November 3, 2015
I hate stuff! In an informal poll I made up, 98% of men hate stuff. But we love gear! Gear can be anything that lets us do something fun or practical. The internet defines gear as "equipment that is used for a particular purpose." So here's my overall tip...when shopping for your guy, think "is this stuff? Or is it gear?"

Just a note, this gear was provided to me to review, all opinions are mine (I only review cool stuff).

The first piece of gear this year is the Jumpr Stack 3 from EnerPlex. It's a phone charger that goes beyond the standard power stick. First, they are very cool looking, it looks like gear. And the neat thing is you can stack them and charge multiple units from one USB port.

Next up is some drinking gear. The Rambler low-ball mug and the Colster super-coozy, both from Yeti, the maker of high-end coolers. These are great looking and will make dad's next beverage of choice that much more enjoyable.

When out and about and dad needs to carry gear, the lightweight day pack from Gregory is a great option. It's perfect for vacations or outings where you may or may not need it because it tucks away super-small.

Continuing on with gear for getting out is the Evrgrn backpack cooler. A soft yet sturdy backpack with an interior cooler for keeping beverages cool when your guy is out and about. It fits up to 24 cans of beer, or 48 juice boxes (depending who you are enjoying it with). Available at REI.

And the last piece of gear will be something your guy will just rent and use, a boat from Get My Boat. This is a boat sharing service, like the AirBNB of boats. You can give the gift of a few hours on the open water for him and some buddies, or the family. No boating experience? No problem, many boats come with the captain!

Look for more ideas soon and happy shopping!
