For You: When Did I Get Like This?

by Amy Wilson

By Eric Cohen July 20, 2010

If you've ever asked yourself "Do I suck at parenting?", this book is for you.  Since we all have moments when we realize we must be doing something wrong, anyone with kids should appreciate Amy's sarcastic and witty take on parenthood.  The subtitle alone gives it away, "The Screamer, the Worrier, the Dinosaur-Chicken-Nugget Buyer & Other Mothers I Swore I'd Never Be."

Amy's tales of raising Connor, Seamus and Maggie in Manhattan touch on topics we can all relate to.  Connor's application to pre-school had me laughing and cringing at the same time, and it made me damn glad we moved out of New York City when our kids were born.  Her battles to "Ferberize" Maggie generate sympathy and laughs at the same time.

If your kids are little, this book will remind you that you are not alone.  If they are older, you'll be able to look back and laugh.

Amy was kind enough to sign a copy of her book for one lucky reader.  Send me (eric@macaronikid.com) an email by Friday July 23rd with the subject "The Screamer", and we'll send the autographed copy to one MK reader at random.
