What's on your Bookshelf?

By Joyce Shulman February 5, 2013
If you are like us, winter means long days holed up with your little ones.  And what better way to pass those cold days than with some hot books!

Oodles of new books have recently crossed our radar and we're excited to share them with you.  Here are three new favorites:

For the Lover of Listening: In Emeraldalicious, a broken wand sends the precocious Pinkalicious and her little brother Peter on a magical adventure at the local park where an enchanted flower and a lot of love transform a stinky stash of garbage into a throne, a castle and more. Boasting the most  gorgeous illustrations of the Pinkalicious series and a message of environmental awareness, Emeraldalicious is a great addition to your pink collection.

For the Early Reader: Two new chapter books, Amelia Bedelia Means Business and Amelia Bedelia Unleashed, introduce the literal and literate Amelia Bedelia to a whole new audience in celebration of the 50th anniversary of this well-loved character.  With a storied history, Amelia is a thankful departure from some of today's meaner and more sarcastic pint-sized protagonists.

For the Mom:
We are loving Quiet: The Power of Introverts in which author Susan Cain explores the power and influence of introverts in a society that equates loud with strong.  From Rosa Parks to Warren Buffet, the book spotlights introverts that have changed our world, discusses the value of introspection, provides insight into raising quiet kids and considers the introvert/extrovert ideal of other cultures.  Well-researched and super readable, this book should be on the book shelf of everyone who sometimes feels like being quiet in a loud world ... or is partnered with, raising, managing, being managed by an introvert.  Yup, that's just about everyone. www.thepowerofintroverts.com
