Fingers Crossed

Ode to the Perfect T-Shirt

By Bunny Shulman June 4, 2013
The perfect t-shirt search began in my teenage years. Seems a silly predicament but for me, and perhaps you as well, a good T-shirt is the staple of my wardrobe. Over the years, I’ve trekked from store to store hunting the ideal. Mostly, they are too long or too short, too wide or not wide enough.  I’ve looked for a soft, supple fabric that will hold its shape, have the right V-shape neckline that’s not too deep, but deep enough to flatter, and comes in the exact shade of pink from a rainbow of colors to compliment my skin tone.

Over the years, I’ve tried on dozens, maybe hundreds.

Finally satisfied, I’ve made my selection from a huge rainbow of colors (okay, I chose three), something not too expensive, but suitable for my budget. With delight, I wore it once. Well, that was only the first step. Here’s the crucial moment. With fingers crossed, I drew it from the torment of the washer and dryer. Hurrah! It did not shrink or stretch out of shape, the color did not fade and the 100% cotton still feels soft to the touch.

And guess what? My perfect T-shirt is made by a familiar name, a name that has stood the test of time. My perfect T-shirt is made by HANES.
