Scarlet Robin Jewelry

Creating Personalized Jewelry in a Deeply Personal Way.

By Gwenn Saiman Speak, Style Editor November 17, 2010

In my never-ending quest for cool and original things, I stumbled upon this inspiring jewelry team on Etsy and haven’t stopped collaborating with them since.  Not only is the personalized jewelry they create completely unique, the level of attention they give their clients during the design process is something we just don’t see anymore. Because each project feels like such a special experience to them, I was able to share vague and deeply personal ideas and co-create pieces that have become indescribably special to me and to the people I have given them to as gifts.
Meet Jenifer Gallagher, the magician behind the metal at Scarlet Robin:

I’m the happiest I’ve ever been since I began to work full time as a metalsmith.  A bit ADD about my life, I got a whole bunch of degrees (including art), then taught for nearly 15 years to pay the mortgage.  My studio is the biggest room in our home, and running this business with my best friend, Jillian, is an amazing gift.
After 25 years of working in lots of artistic media, including beading, a friend pushed me into metal stamping, and within a few hours I was cutting up the metal and putting it back together.  The torch came shortly after, and I knew I had found my other life partner!  I’ve always had commitment issues, but have never looked back :)  I see my role as a creator of things that give people a voice.  My jewelry speaks often of loved ones, and one of the best things about this job for me is interacting with customers.  Working together to design the perfect personalized piece is very exciting and meaningful.  Many of my pieces were inspired by moms & husbands, and I’m always looking for new twists on favorite themes (hearts and flowers anyone?).
Also, I’m a crazily independent mom to 2 ridiculously fun kids, and wife to a stunningly supportive husband. The walls in the main floor of my house are painted 5 different colors, I’m sort of obsessed with history and high heels, and I crave darkness and silence.
The other half of Scarlet Robin, Jillian, is the designer who makes me and a lot of other people look good!  You can find her at ThePaperRobin here on Etsy.
Whether you want to make a necklace displaying the names of your children or create something more narrative with Scarlet Robin (like one I had made with both my son’s name and the words “my son, my heart” in French along with two stones the color of his eyes)  you will find you have a unique piece of jewelry you are emotionally connected to.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/scarletrobin
