Celebrate Shel Silverstein

April is National Poetry Month

By Joyce Shulman April 1, 2014
April is National Poetry Month and our friends at Harper Collins have given Macaroni Kid a collection of special edition books by the incomparable Shel Silverstein to share with a lucky Macaroni Kid family.

“One of Shel Silverstein’s charms is how he stocks his poems with the actual stuff of kidhood--bits of string, pets, boogers, your shadow,” explains acclaimed poet Julie Sheehan. “And while he’s super playful, especially with how words can be misheard or tangled, he never makes fun of the child’s world, nor talk down to his readers.”

The collection includes all of the Shel Silverstein classics ...
  • The Giving Tree;
  • Where the Sidewalk Ends;
  • A Giraffe and a Half;
  • Don't Bump the Glump; and
  • Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back.
