The Sunbeam Gourmet Dog Treat Maker

For Dogs? Or Kids?

By Eric Cohen - Macaroni Dad May 6, 2014
Here's the question of the day...was the Sunbeam Gourmet Dog Treat Maker that I brought home a gift for my dogs, or for my daughter?

The answer is...none of the above. Sorry, it was a trick question. It was a gift for me!

Not because I wanted a dog treat maker, or needed to make dog treats for my furry pals, but because making treats was something I got to do with my daughter. We had a great time. First we opened the box and read the directions and recipes. Then, off to the grocery store together to stock up on corn starch, baking powder and the like.

Then, together we made the treats and together we shared them with our dogs. That's why it was a gift for me. The gift of quality time with my favorite little gal.

As for the product itself, it was pretty easy to use and worked as advertised, and best of all, was easy to clean. Toss in a few ingredients (we chose the peanut butter recipe and added bits of bacon) and pour the mix into the dog treat maker. Close the lid and 15 minutes later, viola. And after trimming the bits off, our biscuits looked reasonably close to the ones in the picture.

Did the dogs love the treats? You bet, but they'd love anything with peanut butter and bacon so no surprise there. Did we have a fun time making and sharing the treats? You bet, and that's the whole point.

*Sunbeam gave me the treat maker for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
