Rocky Mountain Reno on HGTV

Co-hosted by Ryan and Trista Sutter

May 5, 2015
We enjoyed chatting with Trista Sutter to learn about her new show on HGTV, Rocky Mountain Reno that premieres on May 31. (check your local listing for times in your area) We love a good reno-show and this particular one, we hear, has the perfect recipe: beautiful setting (Rocky Mountains), fantastic design and renovation, and a good-looking mountain man.

Here's what Trista had to say about the show:

Macaroni Kid: Hi Trista - We very excited about your new show, Rocky Mountain Reno on HGTV, first question, where did the idea come from? Were you and Ryan having dinner and you thought, let's do a TV show?

Trista: Thanks! So excited! The concept of the show was actually created by friends of a friend who wanted to highlight the beauty of the Rocky Mountains through renovations in our area. They asked us to be a part of it after hearing that I have a passion for design and renovation, and that Ryan has the same, plus a background in construction, is a LEED accredited professional, has an architectural degree from University of Colorado, and is just an overall good-looking mountain man (yes, I’m biased!). We feel so lucky to be part of such a great show that features the beautiful state that we call home and allows us to work together doing something that both of us love!

Macaroni Kid: What did you learn about yourself while making the show? Was there something that jumped out and you said "I never knew that" about yourself?

Trista: I can say that I really didn’t learn anything new, but that some things I don’t think about every day did resurface...
I LOVE creating a fresh start! Whether it be to tear down a wall, pull down wallpaper, envision and plan a design change, or to just tidy up, I love all aspects of renovation! Nurseries are my favorite rooms to design because of the sentiment. I love being a mom and I love being able to create special spaces for other moms. Swinging a sledgehammer isn’t the best thing for my bad back, but it sure is fun!

Macaroni Kid: What was your favorite part of making the show? And least favorite?

Trista: My favorite part of making the show is getting to share it with my husband. We’ve had plans in the works to build our own home for years, which we would still love to do, but getting the chance to do it for others, banter along the way, and do it together is the next best thing. My least favorite part is knowing this is just a pilot…for now, hopefully! We are HUGE fans of HGTV and are extremely grateful for this opportunity. The hope, though, is that it continues and we get to continue to showcase Colorado while putting our passions to work on the homes that we are given the chance to renovate.

Thanks Trista! We look forward to seeing the pilot on HGTV when it airs on May 31 (check your local listing for times in your area)
