Start the School Day off Right with a Smithfield Breakfast

By Lindsay Flagan August 7, 2018

One of the things I love about summer is the ability to have a nice leisurely breakfast. There isn't any "morning timeline" to follow, so we find ourselves experimenting with breakfast options that take a little more time. Growing up, my parents always told me that breakfast was the most important meal of the day - and that still holds true. This school year, I really want to continue with nutritious and unique breakfasts for my kids - although I realize they are either going to need to be quicker to put together or I am going to need to do some good planning.

A good breakfast sets the tone for the day. In fact, teachers find that students who arrive at school that have not eaten a well-balanced, protein-packed breakfast are 80% less likely to be able to concentrate and 76% more likely to not be able to perform as well as they would have had they eaten breakfast.

Protein is an important part of a good breakfast. To get our breakfast protein in, we love products from Smithfield. With Smithfield’s full breakfast portfolio of smoky bacon, savory breakfast sausage, convenient Anytime Favorites ham, and quick-and-easy breakfast sandwiches, you can get creative in the morning without sacrificing time. Need some examples? Embrace the upcoming fall season and give your family a breakfast they won’t forget with Bacon Pancake Dippers, or add Smithfield Bacon to your morning cinnamon roll in this recipe for Easy Bacon Cinnamon Rolls – the perfect salty and sweet treat. Smithfield also has plenty of make-ahead breakfast recipes that can easily be heated up on those busy mornings and enjoyed on the go, like Sausage & Blueberry Pancake Muffins and Pesto Egg Ham Cups – flavor doesn’t have to be sacrificed for time.

But, Smithfield recognizes that not all kids have access to the most important meal of the day. To provide this essential tool needed to perform successfully in school, Smithfield is again partnering with No Kid Hungry, doubling its donation to two million meals to support the organization’s in-school breakfast programs to ensure the 1 in 6 American children struggling with hunger can check this item off their list, too. And, Smithfield is encouraging people like you to get involved, too! Share your breakfast on social media using #BreakfastPower and for every breakfast shared, Smithfield will donate ten meals to No Kid Hungry - helping more kids get access to healthy meals.
