Fifteen Macaroni KID publishers joined Macaroni KID CEO Jamie Ratner in the Sullivan Catskills for three memorable days in July. During their visit, publishers toured Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the site of Woodstock, and were lucky enough to hear stories from docents who were actually at the historic 1969 festival.
Our group also spotted seven bald eagles in a five-mile rafting journey with Lander's River Trips down the scenic Delaware River and enjoyed a stay at the Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, home of New York's largest indoor waterpark.
If you're looking for a great family getaway, the Sullivan Catskills delivered! Here are some of the good times our publishers made while there:
On the river
Our publishers spent a happy afternoon rafting five miles of the Delaware River with the family-owned Lander's River Trips.
This stretch of the Delaware River is a big nesting area for bald eagles. Some of our (eagle-eyed) publishers saw as many as seven bald eagles on the journey.
Reminiscing about Woodstock
Publishers also spent a day at the incredible Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, site of the original Woodstock. It was an incredible experience, getting an idea of what that weekend was like in 1969 and also seeing what Bethel Woods is today — a gorgeous 700-acre site that hosts concerts, is home to a beautiful museum, welcomes kids to summer camp, and much more!
Staying (and playing!) at the Kartrite
Publishers stayed at the beautiful Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, a modern resort only 90 minutes from New York City and home to the largest waterpark in New York.
This resort was so incredibly family-friendly. Along with the waterpark, the resort offers nightly movies, a bowling alley, arcade, yard games, firepits (with s'mores!), and even has a candy shop, along with 8 bars and eateries! Plus ... goat yoga!
