MacKID Picks: 5 Events Not To Miss This Week

Raise money for wounded vets, talk to a real archaeologist, and more!

No matter your child's interests, we have an event for them this week! Our MacKID picks for the week include raising money for wounded veterans, talking to a real archaeologist, learning all about airplanes, finding out the history of rap, and stretching through a yoga class. 1. Run to Raise Money For Wounded Veterans

Honor military veterans on Veterans Day — or any day — by doing a virtual 5K on behalf of the Wounded Warrior Project's Carry Forward project. The nonprofit says 100% of funds raised from virtual runs support wounded warriors. This is a great activity the whole family can participate in! Friday, Nov. 11

2. Ask Questions Of a Real Archaeologist

Join WonderLab Museum in Bloomington, Indiana, in a conversation with an archaeologist who will show kids what his lab looks like and what it is like to work “in the field” vs in a laboratory. Come with questions! Friday, Nov. 11

3. Learn All About Airplanes at Inclusive Virtual Kids Club

Each month the Miracle Flights Team hosts a virtual kids club with a different theme, where families across the US gather virtually to have fun with crafts, books, music, and more! All activities are inclusive and full of laughing, prizes, and all the amazingness that you look forward to in a kids club! This month is all about airplanes! Saturday, Nov. 12

4. Learn the History of Hip Hop Music at This Storytime

This storytime, hosted by the Northwest African American Museum, features a reading of The Story of Rap, a baby-tailored story about the history of hip hop music. The book tells the origins of hip hop and rap, and showcases some of the legendary figures of the field. Sunday, Nov. 13

5. Virtual Yoga Class For Kids 

Explore mind, body, and breath in a fun-filled way! Children will learn animal-themed and nature-observed stretches and poses in this free 40-minute session, which is hosted by Family Resource Navigators and adapted for children with special needs. Monday, Nov. 14
