Macaroni Kid has the inside scoop on Dora's new show, Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure. We spoke with Caitlin Sanchez who is the voice actor for Dora and learned a few fun facts. Caitlin lives in NJ and does all of Dora's singing and speaking in Spanish and English. While it took several months to produce the special, it only took Caitlin one day to perform Dora's voice. She recently sang the National Anthem at the NJ Net's basketball game in front of 20,000 people. In addition to the new Christmas Carol Adventure, Caitlin sings as Dora on a new Christmas album featuring 16 classic Christmas songs.
I watched the special with my 4-year old daughter who loved it. This is Dora's take on Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol," with Swiper the Fox as Scrooge (we couldn't have Dora in that role now could we). As with the original, Dora and Swiper go back in time. Swiper is seen stealing from other babies and learns how much pain he causes. Then the pair travels to the future and it's kinda cool to see Dora grown up.
There's singing and dancing and plenty to keep children enthralled, while sending a message in the holiday spirit.
The show is currently available on DVD, and Nickelodeon will air it on Sunday December 6th at 8:00PM. If that's too late for your little one, set the DVR, or catch it in the AM on Monday the 7th at 9:00AM.
