Ask Maggie: How Do I Care For Aging Parents?

This isn't a job for you alone

January 7, 2020

Dear Maggie,

Any advice on how to handle it when your aging parents are no longer able to care for themselves?

Dear Sweet One,

Aging parents take a village to give back the love and care they gave to us.

If you don’t have siblings or close relatives to help pitch in, then it’s time to investigate some professional care outside of your family.

Perhaps you are able to consider in-home care, planned communities, or if needed, medical facilities that will help your family member to transition into this next phase of lifestyle.

I don’t have tips, just hugs, a nod that it’s okay to ask for help outside of yourself ... and a reminder that you alone are not a village.

Xoxo

Maggie
