TikTok Made Me Buy It, But Should You?

One mom's experience with the Fullstar Vegetable Chopper

July 6, 2023

Cooking healthy dinners with tons of veggies sounds so doable before 5pm rolls around. Then it's all about finding the easiest thing we can throw together that somebody might actually eat. Chopping tons of vegetables with subpar knife skills is not on the to-do list. But if you've seen videos of this Fullstar vegetable chopper in your FYP lately, your veggie goals might actually be within reach. The beautifully diced food in the TikTok videos looks amazing, but it's got us wondering. Does it really work?

@rosannagray150 This chopper has to be one of my old time favorite finds! First things first, what exactly are we talking about? The Fullstar Vegetable Chopper claims you can effortlessly julienne, dice, and slice vegetables and fruits without a mess or knife required. When you're done chopping, just throw it in the dishwasher.

The Fullstar chopper has found some loyal fans among TikTok influencers lately. Just pop #fullstarchopper into the search page and see for yourself. The majority of videos show smiley people looking like they've got their own sous chef behind the scenes while enjoying their artisan salads. Not to mention it's an Amazon bestseller with 84,000 ratings and an average of 4.6 out of 5.

We talked to one mom, Elizabeth Green, who saw the chopper in action on TikTok and was hooked by the videos of family dinner recipes made quick and easy. When she clicked over to Amazon and saw the reviews, she was convinced. She's had it for two months now and is still using it several times a week.

Elizabeth says it lives up to the claims and has become her fave kitchen tool. "It's SO easy. It takes chopping things from a few minutes to a few seconds." Not to mention, her kids can get in on dinner prep without the risk of an ER trip.

She does say it's very sharp so treat those blades with respect to avoid any kitchen mishaps. Otherwise, Elizabeth's loving her latest TikTok purchase and boosting her family's veggie intake with ease.

Well, let's take a look.

  • chops fruits and vegetables in seconds
  • less messy than knife + cutting board
  • doesn't require any special skills
  • easy cleanup

  • blades are sharp, requires caution when changing/washing
  • poorly rated customer service if you need help
  • long term durability uncertain

If you love cooking and eating fresh fruits and vegetables but dread the chopping, this could become your new kitchen bestie. It's relatively inexpensive (currently $24 on Amazon when you clip the $5 coupon), won't take up much cabinet space, and is easy to clean up. It does take some force to get the best results, so if you're not able to put some muscle into it, sticking with your knife may work better.
