We are welcoming September with a week of engaging events, from science storytime and deep-sea adventures to the rhythmic melodies of Celtic tunes! And don't forget Labor Day! Get ready to dive into the wonders of knowledge, creativity, and family fun. Here are our five picks for family fun this week, Aug. 30-Sept. 6:

1. Science Storytime For Little Learners

WonderLab Museum is hosting an online science story time for ages 3-6. Young scientists develop literacy and STEM skills, as well as build vocabulary by actively participating in the hands-on program. August 30

2. Dive Into the World of Sharks

Join the Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium to  explore the differences and similarities between sharks and rays, two cartilaginous animals. Aug. 31

3. Sing Along with a Celtic Band 

Join Caffe Lena for Little Folk Show, a virtual storytime featuring stories, songs and singalongs streamed live! The featured band is Sheridan Rúitín, a young Celtic band from Congers, NY, who weave a tapestry of ancient musical heritage with contemporary flair – from lively jigs and reels to poignant ballads and ethereal harmonies. Sept. 2

4. Celebrate National Pet Rock Day 

Embrace your inner artist and celebrate in a unique way by making your own pet rock on National Pet Rock Day. Send the kiddos outside to find their perfect pet and then use the supplies you already have on hand to add some charm and personality! Sept. 3

5. Labor Day

Many of us have a three-day weekend for Labor Day, so make the most of it by making it a family fun day! Go on a day trip, have a picnic, or find a new park to visit. Have a great weekend! Sept. 4
