Fall is my favorite season — in my part of the U.S., autumn means crisp air, vibrant leaves, and time to snuggle up in our favorite hoodies. And I won't even mention the pumpkin lattes!
As the leaves begin to change and the hours of sunlight grow shorter, my family is gearing up for our favorite autumn adventures.
Here are five things I'm looking forward to doing with my family this fall:
1. Creating Halloween magic
Ready to spookify your space? If your kids are like mine, they've been asking for weeks to decorate for Halloween, and I've been holding off. But guess what? Halloween is creeping up around the corner faster than a ghostly apparition! So it's time to embrace the spirit and head to Five Below, my kids' favorite store and a Macaroni KID sponsor. We'll load up on adorable fall decorations (my favorite) and more spooky and fun Halloween decor (my kids' top pick). The best part? Nobody will suspect that we didn't break the bank, thanks to the spook-tacular lineup of fall and Halloween decorations at Five Below this year. Plus, they've got Halloween-themed T-shirts, costumes, candy, and more. Be back soon.

Bonus: Five Below offers online shopping for delivery or store pickup for no extra fee — so you can get that decorating done even faster.

2. Falling into nature
Fall in my region — the northeastern part of the United States — is stunning. I love getting my kids out hiking through the local trails during the peak days of fall, when the leaves are fiery red and yellow and crunch underfoot. I never get tired of the wonders of the changing seasons. Want to go hiking this fall? We've compiled a list of 50 hiking spots in all 50 states. 3. Picking our own fun
Fall wouldn't be complete without a visit to our local apple orchard and pumpkin patch. It's always so much fun to pick your own apples and pumpkins! And it's a great excuse to make this amazing apple crisp. Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream ... fall doesn't get better than that.
4. Enjoying all the fall events
You can't go wrong with all the local fall events! Fall fests and farmers' markets are the perfect place to find beautiful fall flowers, and homemade seasonal yummy treats like freshly pressed apple cider and cinnamon donuts. Events like this also give me the chance to get a jumpstart on holiday shopping by stocking up on yummy treats like local honey and beef jerky from nearby farms and unique, beautiful, handmade crafts made by local artisans.
My kids, meanwhile, can't wait for more spooky fun. I am planning to surprise them with a trip to Cedar Point's HalloWeekends event. The park is just a few hours drive from our house. I am getting my tickets through CertifiKID.com, which has a great deal on the fall event at Cedar Point. CertifiKID also as ways to save at other amusement parks hosting Halloween events. Check out the full lineup here.
More autumn deals are coming to CertifiKID soon, so check back often for updates!

5. Spending cozy nights at home
Summer is a time for my family to be outside, and we're always on the go. But now, with school back in session, darkness settling in earlier, and the nights cooling off, we're spending more time indoors and at home. That means it's time to dust off our favorite board games, get out our fall-scented candles, and stock up on hot cocoa.
Here's to making the most of every colorful moment that autumn has to offer. Have a great fall!🍁
