Monday December 26, 2022 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Online Event

Description

Happy first day of Kwanzaa!

Celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa! This free virtual event is hosted by Melaneyes Media, the producers of feature films "Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City" and "Message to the People: A Story of Malcolm X."

From the hosts: Join us for our Kwanzaa online celebration via Zoom. We are going to have a lot of fun while we learn and share together.

On Dec 26 at 7pm we will be live online celebrating Kwanzaa. We will come together in mind and spirit (virtually on ZOOM) to celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa as a family and community. We will light our candle, discuss that day principle(Unity), tell stories, play games, and celebrate.

Kwanzaa is an African-American cultural holiday celebrated by more than 30 million people of African descent throughout the world.

As Black people, we truly have to consider the customs and traditions we cling to and pass down consciously and unconsciously. Especially those that were not created for us, by us and often don’t benefit us.

We should embrace celebrations that are in alignment with our history, heritage and cultural values.
